Welcome to JJ Crossfield's

Our café and wine bar opened in June 2023.

By day, we offer a relaxed spot to enjoy expertly crafted hot and soft drinks, and by night our venue really comes alive, with an ever-changing wide range of real ales, craft lagers, wines and spirits on offer.

We have a strong local focus; as well as our resident brews from Lancaster Brewery, we also offer other breweries from further afield the opportunity to showcase as our guest beer, which changes almost weekly so there’s always something new to try.

Join us for hand-stretched sourdough pizzas, or enjoy one of our bar snack options, available to order until close every day.

We’re a small start-up business, proudly owned by family living locally in Arnside.

About Us

With incredible views across the sands and sea, our café and wine bar sits on the promenade in the beautiful village of Arnside, looking out across the Kent Estuary.

The village is surrounded by some of the most picturesque landscapes in Cumbria, with the mountainous view of the Old Man of Coniston beyond the far shoreline’s banks. In this Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, you’ll see all kinds of wildlife from the window at JJ Crossfield’s, from cormorants sunning their wings, to flocks of starlings sweeping over the viaduct.

Our café and wine bar is the perfect combination of rustic charm and modern sophistication. With a spectacular original stone wall complemented by patterned fabrics that replicate the colours and tones of the bay; bringing the outside in. We hope you can relax and enjoy your stay with us.

Stopped off for a drink, busy, good ales, good vibe. Opposite the pier, good views of the estuary from the window seats. Didnt eat but food looked good.

What a gem of a place this is. Fantastic brunch which was really tasty. Great service by the girls and loved the decor, right up my street. The dogs were impressed with their sausage too!

We went for Friday happy hour. 2 for 1 cocktails and 25% off pizzas. A great little bar with a wonderful view. Staff were friendly, particularly the barman that took our first drinks orders. The pizzas were great. A good place to spend a Friday afternoon having food and drinks. Would recommend

Fun and friendly place with a great selection of wines and ales. Amazing pizza! Honestly the best pizza we’ve had! Ever! I thought there was nowhere to go with pizza, I was wrong. Even if it’s out of your way, make a B line to JJ’s.

Where does the name JJ Crossfield’s come from?

We’re proud to honour Arnside’s rich history and pay homage to James Crossfield, the entrepreneur behind the successful family grocers’ store that once sat in the same site as we do today.
